High Coast Trail
PARTICIPANT PM
ORIGINAL 45k
Here’s everything you need to know before the Original 45k. It’s also wise to join the participant group on Facebook where we not only share tips and thoughts leading up to the race but also plan carpooling and more.
Our best advice is to swing by on Friday to calmly check in and pick up your bib and timing chip. If you haven’t run the Original 45k before, it’s a good idea to attend the briefing at 20:00.
There’s usually a great atmosphere throughout the area as participants in the 3Peaks 15k and Coast to Summits 26k finish on Friday – food is served both in the courtyard and in the restaurant Vardagsrummet.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING HIGH COAST TRAIL 43k
BUSES TO THE START
All checked-in participants will take the bus from FriluftsByn to the starting point. Four buses depart continuously between 07:30 and 08:30*. We recommend that those planning to finish in under 6 hours take one of the first two buses. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the starting point near E4 below the west entrance.
START
After taking the bus to the starting area (you cannot use your own car or get a lift), you can start from 08:00. After that, you head out on the trail when you’re ready, but no later than 09:00. This means participants on the first two buses will start together. If you have any questions, the starting officials will assist you.
TOILETS
Toilets are available 3 km from the start directly at the West entrance to the national park, at Tärnättvattnet, Tärnättholmarna, Southern Entrance, at FriluftsByn’s Top Cabin, as well as at the start and finish lines at FriluftsByn. These are marked on the map you receive upon check-in.
TRASH
Whatever you bring into nature, you bring back with you. Trash cans are available in FriluftsByn. A significant part of the opportunity to organize a race through the highlights of the World Heritage Site is the requirement that no one leaves trash behind in nature.
MEDICAL CARE
Medical personnel will be available at Slåttdalsskrevan, where you pass twice, and at the southern entrance. In case of injury, they will first use items from your mandatory equipment. Make sure to bring that equipment! You will receive a number for the secretariat when you check in.
QUITTING THE RACE
You can only drop out of the race at the Southern Entrance and at the hydration station at Eastern Skuleberget. Transportation to the finish line will be provided as opportunities arise. In the meantime, keep warm with mandatory equipment.
ENERGY & WATER
High Coast Trail Original has three energy stations. You can read more about them here: Trail Description High Coast Trail Original >>
CUT-LINES
At 16:00, we close the race at the Southern entrance (26k), and at 18:00, we close the course at eastern Skuleberget (37k). We do this for your safety and the safety of the event. All participants arriving after the cut-lines need to end the race and will be transported to FriluftsByn.
FINISH LINE / AUDIENCE
The last part of the race goes up the south side of Mount Skuleberget. This is a real challenge and the best spot for spectators. Raise your hands in the air. You did it!
