High Coast Trail
TRAIL DESCRIPTION
3PEAKS 15k
The High Coast Trail 3Peaks takes you on an unforgettable journey to three of the most iconic peaks in Sweden’s stunning High Coast region: Herrestaberget, Getsvedjeberget, and Skuleberget. Starting and finishing in FriluftsByn, this race offers a diverse mix of terrain, from technical trails to breathtaking views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With a 5-hour time limit, the course is perfect for both seasoned trail runners and fast-paced hikers. Many participants find it’s a fantastic blend of running and hiking – a truly unique way to experience the incredible beauty of Sweden’s High Coast

Peak 1
HERRESTABERGET
Directly south of FriluftsByn lies Herrestaberget, which is our first peak. From here, you’ll have postcard-perfect views of Docksta, the sea, and the mountains.

Peak 2
GETSVEDJEBERGET
East of FriluftsByn, we find Getsvedjeberget, which we reach by passing through a tunnel under E4. At the top awaits the iconic Predikstolen and magnificent views.

Peak 3
SKULEBERGET
The third peak takes us to the summit of the High Coast World Heritage Site. It is a tough climb, but we’re rewarded with some of Sweden’s most breathtaking views.

Finish line
FRILUFTSBYN
The finish line awaits in FriluftsByn. Showers are available on-site, even if you’ve arranged accommodation elsewhere. Now, let’s celebrate this incredible achievement

Peak 1
HERRESTABERGET
The start for 3Peaks is a mass start from FriluftsByn, with a total of 500 participants. Unlike Coast to Summits and The Original, where participant start over the course of an hour – 3Peaks features a shared and energetic start for everyone.

The start is at Lake Gällsta, right next to FriluftsByn, and then we follow the trail up towards Herrestaberget.
THE START
The start of 3Peaks begins from FriluftsByn, on the other side of the bridge across the river down by Lake Gällstasjön. There are clear signs and it is easy to find.
GÄLLSTASJÖN
The first 800 meters are on a wide pathway along Lake Gällstasjön, giving you a chance to find a pace that suits you. We then pass a small road before reaching the base of Mount Herrestaberget.
Mt. HERRESTABERGET
We ascend the western side of the mountain, soon reaching beautiful views, first overlooking Mount Skuleberget and then stretching out toward the sea. We then descend on the northern side and make our way back to FriluftsByn along Gällstasjön.

The start is at Gällstasjön right next to FriluftsByn, and then we follow the trail up towards Mount Herrestaberget.

Mount Herrestaberget is a popular peak to visit and a good spot for spectators.

Peak 2
GETSVEDJEBERGET
Getsvedjeberget, our second peak, is one of the most popular viewpoints in the High Coast of Sweden and features the famous ”Predikstolen” (The Pulpit). You’ll reach this breathtaking summit around 8 kilometers into the challenge. The 800 meter ascent is steep, and many choose to hike to the top.
Once there, you’ll be greeted with stunning panoramic views and the perfect opportunity to snap some unforgettable photos of Sweden’s natural beauty.

The start is at Gällstasjön right next to FriluftsByn, and then we follow the trail up towards Herrestaberget.
FRILUFTSBYN
After conquering Herrestaberget, we return to FriluftsByn and then head east toward Mount Getsvedjeberget. We start by following Dockstaån (Docksta Stream) before taking a gravel road that leads us to the pedestrian tunnel beneath the E4 highway.
WALKWAY TUNNEL
We pass under the E4 highway and head toward the sea. Our route leads us to the High Coast Kayak Center and Skuleberget Havscamping, located at the base of Getsvedjeberget.
GETSVEDJEBERGET
From Skulebergets seaside camping to the top of Getsvedjeberget, it’s ”only” 800 meters. However, it’s steep, so expect a wonderful challenge. It will be a mix of hiking and light jogging while the landscape unfolds with each step.
ENERGY STATION
After descending the northern side of Getsvedjeberget, we arrive at the energy station where the course merges with Coast to Summits. The station is located right at the passage over E4. The passage has good visibility, but we will cross it cautiously.

From FriluftsByn, you first follow a gravel road and then the hiking and cycling trail under E4, and soon you will be at the foot of Getsvedjeberget.

The Pulpit Rock at the top of Getsvedjeberget is a popular spot. Enjoy the views but be careful.

Peak 3
SKULEBERGET
From the Energy Station and the E4 crossing, the trail begins with an exhilarating run toward the majestic base of Skuleberget. But soon, the real challenge begins—a test of endurance that takes you step by step to breathtaking views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. With every meter you climb, the scenery becomes more awe-inspiring.
At the summit, you’re rewarded with a view that few places in the world can rival: a panoramic vista of the magnificent High Coast. From there, you’ll descend along the iconic Höga Kusten Stigen toward the much-anticipated finish line at FriluftsByn.
You did it—and you’re absolutely incredible!

EASTERN MOUNTAIN TRACK
Now the real test begins where together with participants in Coast to Summits, step by step, we make our way up towards the summit. We encourage and remind each other to turn around and watch the views grow.
THE TOP OF THE WORLD HERITAGE SITE
We did it. The top of the World Heritage Site, and now we stop to take pictures and catch our breath. Before us, the World Heritage Site unfolds, and pride starts to creep in. Now it’s just downhill from here.
HIGH COAST TRACK
FINISH LINE
The home stretch remains, and in a strange way, you find the energy for a final sprint and a triumphant finish. Now you stand there, catching your breath. Happy. You did it, hero!

Expect plenty of photo stops – the scenery is stunning!
