High Coast Trail

EQUIPMENT

To embark on any of the High Coast Trail distances, the right equipment is required to make your experience enjoyable and safe. It’s wise to start planning your packing well in advance.

Begin by making a list of what you plan to bring and then pack your backpack for a trial run. Also, make sure to go out and run in the gear you plan to use during the race.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT FOR ALL DISTANCES

  • T-shirt or similar for running
  • Shorts, tights, or pants
  • Race bib (Received at the start)
  • Running shoes
  • First aid kit and elastic bandage
  • Mobile phone with race management contact number*
  • Extra long-sleeve base layer shirt in the backpack. Used as a change of clothes in case of injury for all races and after finishing the Original 45k, which concludes at the top of Skuleberget.
  • Windproof jacket
  • Hat and gloves
  • Container for at least 0.5 L of fluid (We recommend bringing 1.5 liters of water)
  • Whistle
  • Headlamp
  • Energy in some form
  • Electrolyte replacement
  • Toilet paper

NO METAL SPIKES

To minimize trail wear, High Coast Trail is an experience race where metal spikes are not allowed.

START

A tip is to wear your long-sleeve base layer shirt and windproof jacket to stay warm while waiting for the bus.

FINISH

Just like at the start, it can be nice to put on extra clothes you brought after crossing the finish line.

MEDICAL AID

There are medical personnel and volunteers on site. In case of injury, your first aid kit and elastic bandage will be used first to ensure all equipment is sufficient.

WHAT SHOES SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Of course, this is largely a matter of personal preference, but we would highly recommend a pair from Icebug. That way, you’ll have maximum grip, which is especially important when you venture out into the High Coast.

ICEBUG SHOE TRIALS: Icebug will be on-site during High Coast Trail to provide tips on shoes with excellent grip, but also to lend out shoes to those who want to try them (Limited availability).

HOW SHOULD I DRESS?

With the right clothing, your experience will be so much better. It may sound cliché, but it’s true. We would really like to advocate for Haglöfs L.I.M. series. Here you will find clothes without a lot of unnecessary details and features – just lightweight, minimalist, and packable designs with 100% functionality.

WE VISIT THE HAGLÖFS CORNER: One tip is to check out the Haglöfs L.I.M. series. A series with high functionality, lightweight, and compact size for packing. We meet Per from Haglöfs to learn more. Check it out here.
